I recently moved some things around in order to start using my red couch as part of my shoots. And the result is LOVE. Here’s Katie working it for the camera. I’m going through a mild Lady Gaga obsession phase so it was playing the entire time Sizzlin’ summertime! Thank goodness for AC!

Boudoir – Zoraida

Not gonna lie – Zoraida had some great shoes. I took approximately hundreds of photos of those alone (that’s not even an exaggeration!). I loved her birdcage-style black veil too. I love seeing all the different styles women bring to these shoots. Lots of different styles and ideas. It makes my job quite easy

Fort Mifflin

In early May I took a trip to Philadelphia with some friends to Fort Mifflin, a Revoluntionary War fort and Civil War Confederate prison. Since I did a blog post last summer about Fort Knox in Maine, I thought this would be an appropriate follow-up. This fort is rumored to be very haunted (and was even investigated on an episode of Ghost Hunters), though it was quiet and peaceful when my friends and I were there.

The fort is actually located directly over the landing flight path of the Philadelphia International Airport, and so every few minutes or so low flying planes would sail seemingly dangerously close to the top of the fort. The best plane seen? The Pittsburgh Steelers plane! Insert some sort of bad joke here…

Wedding – Melanie and Matt

I met Melanie and Matt in December when I shot their engagement photos. I got the wonderful opportunity to photograph their wedding also. Their wedding was last weekend and I must say it was a beautiful affair. The wedding and reception were at the Surf Club in New Rochelle. The best part of the day? When Melanie came up to me and said “I feel like you’ve been with us all along the way.” Congratulations to you both!!

At the wedding I also met Chrissi at Fairy Tale Events, who is a great wedding coordinator. She was focused, attentive, and anticipatory. ROCK IT.

Snow Day

When I do a post so out of season like this, it becomes pretty obvious how backed up I am with blog entries. Whoops! But I figure, in the beginnings of a hot summer, sometimes looking back at how snowy it was in the winter is somewhat comforting and cooling, and also puts things in perspective. Remember this weather? It kind of blows when it’s going on at that moment! As hot as we all have been recently, I think it’s better than -20 degrees!

Back in February, on one glorious Friday it snowed so much that it essentially shut the city down. Without anything else to do and not a care in the world, I wrapped myself up as best I could and brought my camera and iPod along for a nice long walk. I love how random life can be.

Boudoir – A

The great thing about boudoir photography is that it can literally be about anything. Sure, the basic premise is sexy poses and sultry looks. But really? There are no rules. So we’ve got A’s boudoir shoot, which included some lingerie, sure, but also incorporated a bit of “sexy librarian,” a sporty blue and red zip up jacket, and a fun, flirty, and brightly colored babydoll. I’m like a moth to the flame with bright colors, so this shoot was a lot of fun for me! Plus props! Books! How can you go wrong?

After the Birthday

I love New York for the all the random things it offers up on a daily basis. Case in point (or, dare I say, “cake in point”? Sorry, I’m awful). Came across this on a rainy day in the middle of me moving stuff out of my old apartment into my new apartment. I was angry about the rain and tired and cranky, but this cheered me up right away. I didn’t have my camera with me, so I had to pause my moving activities to get it from my new place. Come back outside, realize I forgot where the cake was. Panic! I eventually found it though. Thank goodness nobody carted it away. Hahaha…

On the ground near the cake was a discarded lotto ticket. A wet birthday cake and a losing lotto ticket on a rainy day. I suppose I’d leave my cake too!

Engagement – Megan and Nick

I love being a photographer. I really, really do. I love being able to connect with people and being a part of one of the most important days of their lives. Megan and I connected over the winter, and had a very long phone conversation that totally got off track from photography – thinking back on it, it’s so funny to me. So I was very excited to meet Megan and her fiance Nick for the first time when we shot their engagement session in Central Park.

They were a very easy-going and fun couple to work with. Nick was hilarious and making us all laugh! Such a fun session!

I also had to momentarily steal Megan’s ring and take about a billion photos of it on, in, and hanging from various flowers.

We really lucked out too, since we shot this on a beautiful day weather-wise in between some long stretches of very nasty weather!

Ahhh. That was fun. The best part? I’m shooting their December wedding too!
