Yet, when it came time for raindrops to start falling, we got sunshine and beautiful light instead. It was the perfect day for an elopement! Dana and Mike were married in Grand Central, exactly two years to the day they first met. Here’s a sneak peek – more soon!

Brittany + Kelly ● Deity Brooklyn Wedding Photos Sat, 28 Mar 2015 15:37:51 +0000 I was SO excited to photograph Brittany and Kelly’s wedding. I’ve known Kelly for years, as she is mutual friends with a friend of mine from college. I photographed her engagement photos with Brittany back in 2013 and knew they were the perfect match for each other. When they asked me to photograph their wedding at Deity, I was PUMPED. Yarrr!!!

Brittany and Kelly got ready at the nearby Nu Hotel, and then we did a Brooklyn-esque wedding first look on the street. Their wedding theme was Brooklyn – like, *super* Brooklyn. Check out the Metrocard place seating chart, the Brooklyn subway train centerpieces, the Brooklyn Nets shoes, cufflinks, and wedding cake. Their invitations even featured the Brooklyn Bridge. And, to top off the Brooklyn theme? Brittany + Kelly = BK. It was simply meant to be!

Deity is a former synagogue that has been converted into a multi-floor event space. Each floor has a different vibe, and it was the perfect space for their Brooklyn wedding. Getting married in New York City is a unique experience no matter how you do it. For those people looking for a ceremony and reception space, creativity is a must as there are very few “traditional” wedding venues within the city limits. It’s all about finding a unique space and making it work as a wedding venue. Deity fit the bill for Brittany and Kelly perfectly!

Laurie + Ryan ● Connecticut Town Hall Elopement {Teasers} Tue, 24 Mar 2015 15:49:39 +0000 I had the pleasure of spending yesterday with Laurie and Ryan, who were married in a private ceremony by the justice of the peace in the Monroe, CT Town Hall. Fun fact: it was the first city/town hall wedding I photographed that wasn’t in Manhattan. Monroe is a beautiful New England town that reminds me of my native central Massachusetts. It was pretty awesome to slip away from the city for a day and have fun doing so! Here’s a sneak peek of the day – more soon!

Amy + Chris ● Christmas Eve NYC Elopement Mon, 23 Mar 2015 15:33:45 +0000 Amy and Chris and their daughter Ruby traveled to NYC from their home country of Australia to be married on Christmas Eve in Central Park. It was a chilly, foggy morning when we all met up at Gapstow Bridge, but we were all in a great mood. It was Christmas Eve! Their daughter Ruby was a). super adorable, b). took a little while to get used to the idea of a wedding and photos, but once she was cool with it, was extremely enthusiastic, c). loved all the dogs in the park she saw, and d). jumped in every puddle she could find, because she had sassy new rainboots. A gal after my own heart.

Being that it was pretty early in the morning, and a holiday, and the weather was a bit dreary, the park was virtually empty. It was kind of fantastic. I swear, I’d take an empty park in blah weather over a crowded park in nice weather any day. It’s so freeing to have all that space to yourself!

Rev. Brad performed the ceremony, and this was the first time I’ve ever worked with him. I always enjoy meeting new elopement vendors, so, yay!

Congratulations to Amy and Chris!!

Eija + Oblanson ● Elope in NYC at City Hall Sat, 21 Mar 2015 15:48:09 +0000 Eija and Oblanson’s love story goes back: Their story started in 1993 when they went to the same high school in Florida. They did not get together then, however, as Eija moved back to Finland after school. She always wondered what became of Oblanson, though, so in 2011 she looked him up no Facebook and reached out to him – and as fate would have it, he had been wondering about her as well! They became an item, and Oblanson proposed in December of 2011. They continued with their long, long distance relationship until Eija could move back to the US and they could get married! It was always her dream to come to NYC to get married, and that’s how we all ended up at City Hall on a simply gorgeous early fall day.

A friend served as the official witness. It was the perfect day – the lines weren’t too long, and once we got outside, the sunlight was amazing. Congratulations to Eija and Oblanson!

Janene + Chris ● Surprise Proposal in Brooklyn Bridge Park Fri, 20 Mar 2015 15:27:12 +0000 Today is National Proposal Day (it’s a real thing – Google it!), and what better way to celebrate than to blog an amazing proposal? Janene and Chris came down to NYC for a quick vacation from their hometown of Rochester. Chris knew that this trip would be the perfect time to propose! He chose the gorgeous backdrop of the Manhattan skyline from Brooklyn Bridge Park, one of the most popular proposal spots in the city – and for good reason! Janene had no idea he was planning to propose, or that he had also hired a photographer to capture it all. It was awesome!! Janene said YES! and then we went on an engagement shoot around Brooklyn Bridge Park/DUMBO. Congratulations!!!

I love photographing proposals – I have photographed over 60! – and would love to photograph yours. Are you traveling to NYC with your partner and planning to pop the question? Reach out to me! I’m experienced at planning and photographing proposals while staying inconspicuous. Plus, I think it’s pretty much the most fun thing ever, and bring that enthusiasm to every shoot!

Vicky + Rosalind ● Irish Same Sex City Hall Wedding Tue, 17 Mar 2015 18:00:27 +0000 Vicky and Rosalind traveled from their native Ireland to NYC to be married at City Hall. I was honored to be able to document their wedding day, and after their intimate ceremony, we walked over the Brooklyn Bridge (which, it should be noted, was built by immigrant laborers in the 1860s-70s, many of whom were Irish). It’s St. Patrick’s Day, so let’s celebrate it with some love!

Sarah + Chris ● Lifestyle Photo Session with Cats Thu, 12 Mar 2015 20:30:58 +0000 So, yes, “Friends Week” turned into “Friends Week and a Half,” but here’s the next installment of shoots I’ve done with friends. Sarah is a “photografriend,” and she and her husband are behind Smitten Chickens. When she asked me to come to their East Harlem apartment and shoot some lifestyle photography with them and their four cats, I was ecstatic. To say I enjoy the company of cats is the understatement of the century. In fact, as I write this blog post I’m adorned with my two cats. Anyway! Great fun was had by all, and I loved being able to capture a day in the life of Sarah, Chris, Pip, Oliver, Izzy, and Harry. #MeowerPowerHour
