Alice + Jason ● When I Walk on PBS

June 25, 2014

Four years ago, I had the amazing opportunity to photograph the wedding of Alice Cook and Jason DaSilva, at St. Mark’s Church In The Bowery. Jason has Multiple Sclerosis, having been diagnosed in his 20s. By the time he and Alice were married, he needed a motorized scooter to get around. The ceremony was performed with both Alice and Jason sitting on a bench, surrounded by their closest family and friends. It was truly a beautiful moment and I was grateful to be a part of it.

I had known at the time that they were planning a PBS documentary (called When I Walk) on Jason, and at the wedding we were joined by a film crew. Initially, I believe the plan was to release the documentary in 2011 – I am amazed that the documentary spans *years* of his life. I cannot wait to watch it. It is available to watch online until July 23, 2014 at this link.
